Mango + New Jersey

Funding

As of June 2023, New Jersey still has over $2.7 Billion in ARP ESSER funds remaining that may be obligated through 9/30/2024!

Schools can use funds for all allowable uses under ESSA, including improving access to foreign language instruction and implementing innovative blended learning projects such as Mango. This can be part of the district’s summer or extended learning program.

Schools can use funds to provide a well-rounded education, including summer programming to help with learning loss and also to improve the effective use of technology.

Schools may also be able to transfer funds to Title Formula programs, including Title IV.

New Jersey Student Learning Standards for World Languages

Mango’s most popular courses (Spanish (Latin American), French, Italian, Japanese, German, and Mandarin Chinese) compare favorably with nationally recognized World Language standards, such as ACTFL’s World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages.

In fact, Mango is 95% aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for World Languages (NJSLS-WL) for Novice and Intermediate levels. This favorable alignment allows educators to clearly identify learners’ skill levels and track their achievements as they pass through the Mango learning system.

Currently, Mango can offer content up to the equivalent of ACTFL’s Intermediate High level for these courses, which means that Mango’s course content can be used to cover New Jersey language requirements through grade 8, as well as levels 1–4 in high school.
