Activity 1: Add the possessive adjective

Fill in the missing possessive adjective.

  1. Jimmy is doing math homework now.

  2. Jill is packing bag.

  3. They eat lunch at home.

  4. We always study notes carefully before a test.

  5. She takes good care of cat.

  6. The Moore family is visiting relatives in Oklahoma.

  7. I keep school books on desk.

  8. You don’t answer homework questions very carefully.

  9. Mike and Jill are having dinner with friends.

  10. Mr. Smith drives car to the office.

  11. You and I are taking vacation in Spain.

Activity 2: Rewrite the sentences

Write sentences, changing the possessive noun (“of the X” or “X’s”) to a possessive adjective. Remember that the possessive adjective goes before the noun! Here's an example:

Possessive Noun: Do you know the price of the car?
Possessive Adjective: Do you know its price?

  • The man’s name is Mike.

  • The workers are fixing the roof of the house.

  • Mike’s new car is very eco-friendly.

  • The cover of the book is red and green.

  • Does Jimmy know Mike and Jill’s friend?

  • The suitcases are in the trunk of the car.

  • The leg of the table is broken.

  • The Maxwells’ store is closed right now.

  • The title of the article is short.

  • The women’s coats are in the closet.

Activity 3: I went on a trip, and in my bag…

The Moores (Mike, Jill, and Jimmy) are going to visit Mike’s parents in Oklahoma. Each of them has packed a bag for the trip. Here are some of the clothes they packed:

Mike:
blue jeans, wool sweater, warm socks

Jill:
favorite plaid skirt, silk blouse, pink sneakers

Write short sentences about the clothes the Moore family has packed, following the example. Use his or her.

Example:
Mike’s Jeans→ His jeans are blue.

  • Jimmy’s t-shirt →

  • Mike’s socks →

  • Jill’s sneakers →
