Activity 1: Translate
Translate the sentences below to Brazilian Portuguese. Remember that the position of some elements differs from English to Brazilian Portuguese.
It is raining a lot outside.
We are good friends.
Rodrigo and Marina have always been friends.
I gave my grandfather a gift.
I gave him a present.
He is a simple teacher.
I heard a long story.
There are many cars parked on the street.
Bianca is my best friend.
Activity 2: Position of adjectives
The position of the adjective in Brazilian Portuguese (before or after the noun) can change the meaning of a sentence. Read the two sentences in the left column and choose which one of them corresponds to the English sentence that is given.
Rodrigo is my elderly friend.
Luisa is a young woman.
He was an excellent deputy.
They hired any artist.
Activity 3: Adverbs
Adverbs can modify the meaning of adjectives, other adverbs and verbs, and can be placed in different positions. Rewrite the sentences below and place the given adverb in the most appropriate position:
