Patrons of North Carolina’s Libraries Can Now Access Over 70 Foreign Language Courses From Smart Phones or Home Computers Through MANGO LANGUAGES and NC LIVE Partnership

DETROIT, MI and RALEIGH, NC (March 1, 2018) — Mango Languages is pleased to announce that its online language-learning platform is now available for free to the entire state of North Carolina, thanks to a new agreement with NC LIVE, which offers its resources to the state’s public and academic libraries.

Starting immediately, Mango Languages is available to all North Carolina library patrons, which include statewide public libraries, community colleges, and public and private universities and colleges., Mango languages can be accessed anywhere, via desktop or the highly rated Mango Languages’ mobile apps. Lessons can be downloaded when online, and they can be accessed at any time without internet connectivity. Each lesson combines real-life context and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions from an encouraging narrator. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application by focusing on the four key elements of language learning: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and culture.

As part of the partnership with NC LIVE, over 70 world language courses and more than 20 English/ELL (English Language Learning) courses will be available, including a variety of specialty mini-courses that include, Pirate, Medical Spanish, and Shakespearean English. Built into its wide selection of languages is the highly effective Mango Languages methodology, hand-crafted by PhD-certified linguists and developed with unique learning features that rapidly build pronunciation and comprehension skills. These learning features strengthen confidence in speaking instead of focusing on sentence structure and irrelevant phrases common to other language-learning programs.

Mango Languages also offers the opportunity to learn through authentic films with Mango Premiere™, which includes over 20 films, plus The Fixies™, an animated series for young English learners. As an added bonus for families, the Family Profiles feature allows up to 5 additional profiles, making it simple for parents to add children and track their learning, providing language skill-building options for the entire family.

“As a devoted language learner myself, I understand the feeling of discovering the passion to explore a new language,” said Mango Languages’ Co-Founder and CEO Jason Teshuba. “If anyone has dreamed of learning a new language, Mango is a phenomenal resource.. The variety of tools and learning content Mango provides to explore a new language costs nothing to North Carolina residents and it’s really as easy as downloading the app and creating a profile to take a look — whether it’s your first language or your fifth.”

Mango Languages can be accessed at the library, remotely, or even on-the-go with apps for iPhone®, Android™ powered devices, which are equipped with hands-free features like Bluetooth syncing and auto play for learning anywhere, at any time. Mango Languages will host monthly webinars to show people how easy it is to learn another language using this system.

“NC LIVE is pleased to provide access to such a high-quality online language learning tool,” said NC LIVE Executive Director Rob Ross. “The world continues to shrink as cultures become more integrated and technology makes us more connected. North Carolina’s residents increasingly interact with people from background and cultures different than their own and the quality of those interactions can be enhanced through greater cultural awareness. Learning another language – even just the basics – creates opportunities for personal connections, more meaningful exchanges of ideas, and deeper empathy. If language barriers divide us, language learning can unite us one conversation at a time.”
